The Victor Hotel, right in front of the Ocean
December, 2014Famous in the past years for the presence, in a rather dark lobby, of a huge aquarium full of jellyfish, the Victor Hotel is now newly renovated: where darkness reigned, today there are bright neutral colors and a soothing atmosphere.
The hotel, which is located on Ocean Drive and is housed in a Deco building from 1937, has had several owners, before beeing purchased by the family Nakash, who, in 2013, decided to redecorate the kind of “kitsch”, but very evocative, old Victor.
Thanks to the ability of Yabu Pushelberg, today the hotel’s atmosphere is more refined, modern and inspired by the colors of the earth.
The rooms are also full of light, spacious and of a sober taste (a widespread use of light, wood and natural fabrics); and oversized, compared to many hotels of the same price range.
What about the services? Free Wi-Fi, Mac available to customers in the lobby, a nice pool with cabanas and two restaurants (Sugar Factory, salad, burgers, pizzas, desserts and cocktails of all kinds; and Sushi Misaka).
Be aware: in addition to the cost of the room, they will ask you to pay an additional $ 22 per day per room (they call it Resort fee, and it is required) for the following services: breakfast for two, access to the gym and the spa, towles for the beach and bicycles. The reason why they do not add it directly to the room price, is obscure, but so it is.
Overall the Victor seems a nice hotel, suitable for demanding customers, who love to be in the heart of South Beach (the hotel is located on Ocean Drive, exactly all’1144), a few steps from the beach and a short walk from the shopping area.
The rooms, 91 in total, are divided into Double, Superior King, Bungalows, Deluxe King Room, King Suite, Penthouse. The cost, depending on the season, varies; for example, for a Superior King can go from 229 to $ 709 (+ tax).
